Camel Caravan tour in the Sahara Desert :
11 days, including 7 days with a camel caravan
4 nights hotel, 6 nights camping
Every tour is private, scheduled on dates of your choice, beginning on a Friday and ending on a Monday in Bamako; there are no fixed-date scheduled departures.
Contact us for prices. Groups of any size are welcome. Be sure to specify the month/year of travel, and how many persons are in your partyprices are digressive, so a better value per person for a party of four than a party of two, etc.
Regretfully this desert tour is temporarily unavailable, due to insecurity in the desert.
ITINERARY
01 Feb. 2009 
D1 Friday: Arrive in Bamako, MALI
Your international flight arrives in Bamako in the evening; airport-to-hotel transfer; overnight in Bamako (Grand Hotel, or similar)
D2 Saturday: Bamako - Timbuktu - Sahara desert
Transfer to the airport for your early morning flight to Timbuktu; meet your Tuareg guide and your camel caravan, and depart into the desert; dinner and overnight camping in Ercle n'Walan oasis
with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
D3 Sunday: Ouam, Awdeche El Batalah
D4 Monday: Agani Albaa
D5 Tuesday: Awreywir, Hassi, Bondeye
D6 Wednesday: Tin Adare Tirrikene
D7 Thursday: Nebkatte, Jamaa Tirikene
with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner; 5 days
D8 Friday: Return to Timbuktu
Continue to and arrive in Timbuktu at day's end; overnight in Timbuktu (Hotel Hendrina Khan, or similar)
with Breakfast, Lunch
D9 Saturday: Timbuktu
Full day in Timbuktu to visit this former metropolis at the edge of the desert: visit the ancient mosques and former universities, the museum, the explorers' houses, the city market, the artisans' center; overnight in Timbuktu (Hotel Hendrina Khan, or similar)

D10 Sunday: Timbuktu - Bamako
Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Bamako; check into your hotel day room and take the rest of the day at leisure; overnight in Bamako (Grand Hotel, or similar)

D11 Monday: Bamako - final departure
Bamako city tour in the morning: visit the Muso Kounda Museum, the city market, the artisans' village; in the evening, transfer to the airport for your final departure

NB: camping is no frills, sleeping on a ground mattress in a small tent; there are no campgrounds, so no running water, no latrines. Camping in Mali is not recommended for inexperienced campers.
NB: Domestic flights are subject to availability; if flights are not available, add two days for roundtrip overland transportation to/from Timbuktu.

- airport transfers upon international arrival and departure in Mali (Bamako)
Tour does not include international travel to/from Bamako; Mali visas; non-specified meals, drinks/bottled water; tips, sleeping bags, and personal expenses.
